Nokia N8 review

The first time Nokia's N8-00 popped up on our
radar was way back in early February of this year. On that chilly, misty
morning, we learned of a mythical being capable of shooting 12
megapixel stills, recording 720p video, outputting via HDMI, and -- most
importantly -- ushering in the promised Symbian^3 touch revolution.

It's been a long road of leaks, teasers, hands-ons, and previews since
then, but at long last, the legend of the N8 has become a purchasable
commodity. All the early specs have survived, including the 3.5-inch
AMOLED display, but the key question today, as it was at the beginning,
relates to that all-new software within: does Symbian^3 succeed in
elevating Nokia's touchscreen experience or does it drag down an
otherwise stellar combination of high-end parts? For that verdict and
much, much more, join us after the break.

LG KS660 Review

The dual sim handsets have become the latest trend as many of the customers prefer them. The business customers who seek to have two different numbers need not have to worry about charging and maintaining a couple of handsets when they can easily use the dual sim card handsets. The LG KS660 is the first dual sim card handset released by LG. many companies have started releasing this type of handsets. This is however the first of its type when spesking about the ones from LG. the LG’s rival, Samsung has already released few handsets with this ability.

Specifications

Dimension105 x 55 x 14.9 mmWeight115 gramsDisplay3 inches, 240 x 400 pixel reolsution, 256 K colorsCamera5 mega pixel resolution, LED flash, auto focusMemory50 MB internal memory, micro SD card up to 4 GBConnectivityBluetooth, EDGE, 2G, GPES, USBBatteryLithium ion, 950 mAh, 3.5 hours talk time, 250 hours stand by time

Design

The KS660 is of the same type as most of the other touch screen handsets. It has a mono black color unit. It measures 105 x 55 x 14.9 mm in dimension which proves that it is quite thin to slid it comfortably in to the pocket. It can also be carried with ease due to its weight which is just 115 grams. The entire front panel of the handset is occupied by the touch screen display. It is a huge display that measures 3 inches. This screen has a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. It supports around 256 K colors.

It can be managed completely with the finger swipes. The users will need some time to get used to this screen. This is due to the sensitivity of the sensor. The proportions of the display are ideal for watching the videos. The display produces bright and rich images. The handset’s main control management unit is the display and hence it attracts a lot of finger prints. These may not be seen when the display is turned on but when it is the other way round, the finger prints are clearly visible.

There are physical keys on the front side, under the display. They are the dialing key, a task manager key and a quick access key that manages between the two SIM cards. The task manager key helps in finding out the selected applications. There is also a ring off key. The facets found on the perimeter of the handset are framed with chrome plastic insert. The right spine of the handset has the volume rocker and the micro SD card slot which has a plastic plug covering. The left spine has the lock key, the camera shutter key and the firm connector for connecting the charger, the headphones and the soft cables.

User Interface
The KS660 has a key feature in the interface which is the availability of more than a desktop. The desktops can be switched across the screen either from the left to the right or from the right to the left. On the speed dial screen, the users can place up to 10 contacts. The other desktop can house 10 widgets that are preset. The order and the arrangement of these can be set by the users on both the tables. The users can secure the items in order to prevent the accidental movement when switching between the two desktops.

The notifications like the signal status of the SIM cards, maps availability, active mode, battery, Bluetooth and time are displayed on the main screen. This is independent on the desktop that is being used. The clicking of the middle part will open the quick setup menu. The names of both the operators and the selected labels open below this. There are 4 icons on the bottom that provide access to the main menu, messages, phone book and dial pad. The main menu can be opened in two versions such as a scrolling list or scrolling tabs. The appearance alone changes from the top or the side.

Multimedia

The handset is not a multimedia device and hence it does multimedia functions only to a decent level and nothing extraordinary. The music player supports the files with the WMA, MP3, AAC, AAC+ and AAC++ formats. The information about the playback is displayed on the desktop or directly on the widget that is preset. The FM radio can save a maximum of 50 radio channels. The video player supports the file with the MP4 and the H.264 formats.

Camera

The handset has a 5 megapixel camera that can capture images with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels. The pictures appear with bearable quality. The flash option produces passable quality in the low light environments. The camera can record videos with the resolution of 720 x 480 pixels. They have a frame rate of 25 fps and a bit rate of 700 to 1000 kbps.

Conclusion

The LG KS660 is a handset that will suit the users who travel to many places where the network signals vary in strength. The handset has all the features that are required by an excellent business handset. The only things it lack are the 3G and the Wi-Fi connectivity. Overall, LG has made a good job with the KS660 being the first dual sim handset from the company

New Winamp Beta for Android Mobiles

Winamp Android
Winamp, which is a music player, first became available on Android mobiles late in October and now a new beta version has been released.

One of the main draws of Winamp is that it enables you to wirelessly sync your music from your Desktop PC to your mobile over WiFi. You can also do this over USB if you don't have a WiFi network. In order to use this feature you need Winamp installed on both your PC and your Android mobile.

The new beta adds support for SHOUTcast Radio, which means you can listen to any of over 40,00 internet radio stations.

The "Now Playing" screen on Winamp enables you to view song info, album art and much more. If you press and hold you can interact to get even more info about the artist or song currently playing. It also has an excellent Queue management system where you can easily see what tracks will be played next and change or skip tracks.

The new version also adds a new smaller widget for you home-screen, so you can easily access Winamp.
